MY BACKGROUND

I was born in Kelowna, British Columbia and grew up in a central interior logging town called Quesnel. I graduated from Correlieu Secondary
School in 1995. Soon after, I moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba where I worked for a few years as a general laborer. I also took a traditional animation course during this time.

In 1997, I enrolled in Advertising Art at Red River College. I graduated the 2 year program with a diploma in graphic design. A year later, I enrolled in the Advanced Advertising Art (Third Year). In 2000, I graduated with a diploma in advanced graphic design and began working in the advertising industry.

MY EDUCATION

1995 High School Diploma (Grade 12): Graduated from Correlieu Secondary School in Quesnel, British Columbia, Canada in the summer of 1995.

1996 Basic Animation Course: Participated in evening courses at the National Film Board of Canada. This was a 6 week course and mainly focused on traditional cell animation.

1997-1999 Advertising Art Diploma (Graphic Design): Enrolled at Red River College in the Fall of 1997. This was a 2 year program that covered areas such as graphic design, advertising, prepress, web design and illustration. Graduated from Advertising Art in the Summer of 1999. Continued on with the optional 3rd year in advanced graphic design at Red River College.

1999-2000 Advanced Advertising Art Diploma (Graphic Design): Enrolled at Red River College in the Fall of 1999 for the 3rd year option of
Advanced Advertising Art. This was a 1 year course that focused on
areas such as advanced graphic design, typography, 3D animation, advanced illustration, advanced design theory. Graduated from Advanced Advertising Art in the Spring of 2000.

MY WORK HISTORY

1993-2000 Miscellaneous Jobs: During this time I worked in a variety of jobs including a soccer referee, courtesy clerk at a grocery store and casual laborer at a pulp mill. I also worked as a graphic designer in a screen printing shop.

2000-2001 Graphic Designer - Idea Marketing Group: After graduating from Advertising Art in 2000, I began working at Idea Marketing Group as a junior graphic designer. While there, I worked on a variety of advertising campaigns doing general design projects.

2002-Present Freelance Graphic Designer: I have worked on multiple freelance projects including interactive flash media, brochures, posters, logos, catalogs and web design.

2001-2008 Graphic Designer - Discovery/Lancer Group: In late 2001, I was hired as an in-house graphic designer. I worked on a variety of graphic design projects including web design, trade show marketing, general graphic design and public relations work.

2004-Present Webmaster - Spirit of Math Schools: Since 2004, I have served as webmaster for the corporate website of Spirit of Math Schools.

2008-2009 Graphic/Multimedia Designer - Triallo Communication: I worked as a multimedia designer at Triallo Communication Media where I produced digital video advertising using Flash animation and also worked on other general graphic design projects.

2010-2013 Senior Graphic Designer - McDiarmid Lumber Ltd: While working within the in-house advertising department, I worked as the senior graphic designer and was responsible for a variety of advertising projects. These included a bi-weekly flyer, brochures, logos and stationary, packaging, large format posters, tradeshow promotional items and video/animation projects directed towards retail advertising and tradeshows.
